The ASU Interior Design Class of 2014 visited Las Vegas, Nevada earlier this month for three days (February 1-3). The visit was part of a field trip for their hospitality studio class taught by Susan Norman. Some of the highlights included visiting the World Market Center, the Lou Ruvo Brain Institute designed by Frank Gehry, and CityCenter. The students were also given a private tour of the Presidential Suites at Wynn and Encore, XS and Surrender nightclubs, as well as the Lakeside Restaurant by the designers of Wynn themselves. Some pictures of the fabulous trip are posted below. 🙂
The Lou Ruvo Brain Institute designed by Frank Gehry. According to the tour guide, the exterior of the structure was adorned with 18,000 steel panels. None of the panels were the same size; all were numbered and had room for 1/8 of an inch error. Incredible. Photo courtesy of Erica Thompson.
